APP ‘Heroes’ research- Character profiles

It is standard for all works of fiction containing characters to have character profiles. The minimum effort needed to create a character profile could simply be a written description but it’s common for most character profiles of visual media be much more visually presentable. This is especially relevant for characters that will appear in movies, animation and games.

As I am planning to create profiles for the characters of Obliteration, I will definitely steer towards making them as visually appealing as they are informative in order to exercise my skills in illustration. While some character profiles are generated by fans of the franchises, the majority of them are usually created as personal reference for the designers and authors but it’s also up to their own decision to share them or not. This can range from having them shared online, appearing in art books or appearing in games.

Here are some examples that I’m aiming to take inspiration from:

The amount of information to be included is also up to the creator but typical character info that all character profiles usually include the following:

  • Name
  • Age
  • Nationality
  • Height/weight
  • Short biography
